Science vs. Romance is the brain child of frontman Matthew Vale. In 2002, still aged only 16, he was whisked off on a whirlwind trip of a lifetime, playing to crowds in the United States, Europe and Japan, recording with some of the industries finest producers and sharing the stage with bands that were his childhood heroes. Over the next 4 years he would learn his trade and see how ‘real bands’ do it.
,In 2004, in his home town of Stourbridge, he was introduced to seasoned musicians Allan Oakes and Stuart Nicholls. The three quickly bonded due to a rare mutual appreciation for black humour and a similar taste in music (such as Rilo Kiley, whose song title later named their band). After recruiting Adam Harper, the most proficient bass player they could lay their hands on, these talented musicians set about writing and recording their demos.
, ,The band eventually recorded their debut EP in February 2007 at Magic Garden studios with esteemed producer Gavin Monaghan (Editors, Nizlopi, The Twang). The songs are words of long distance love, broken hearts, tales from the road and the occasional murder (Law & Order has a lot to answer for). This recording is the starting block for the band as they begin to develop attention.
,This brings us up to the current day where the band are persistently writing songs and playing live around the country.
